May Paving (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy and handles personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains, in plain terms, what we collect through our website, maypaving.com.au, and in the course of providing our paving and landscaping services, and what happens to it.
When you use our quote form, we collect the details you type in: your name, phone number, email address (optional), suburb, the service you’re interested in, your project description, how you’d like us to contact you, and any photos you choose to attach. If you call, text, email or message us on Facebook, we keep the details you share with us that way too.
When you visit the website, some technical information is collected automatically — such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you view. This comes from our website host’s standard logs and from Google Analytics (see “Cookies & analytics” below).
We use your information to respond to enquiries and prepare quotes, plan and carry out the work you request, maintain our business records, and operate and improve our website. We don’t add you to any marketing mailing list.
When you send the quote form, it goes through a small website function run on our host, Netlify, and is emailed to us (our business inboxes) using the email delivery service Resend. A copy of each enquiry is also sent to JB Digital Barossa, the local business that built and looks after this website, so they can check enquiries are arriving and fix any problems; their client dashboard also records a short notice of the enquiry (your name, email and message). Each enquiry is also recorded in JB Digital Barossa’s client portal (a secure database hosted by Supabase in Sydney, Australia), so that if an enquiry email can’t be delivered it can be retried and followed up. If you include your email address, you’ll get an automatic email confirming we’ve received your request. Every submission is automatically screened for spam, using a hidden field, timing checks, a blocklist and a spam score. Anything that looks like spam is held for JB Digital Barossa to review instead of being passed to us.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We only share it with the service providers described in this policy (website hosting, email delivery, our web developer, and Google for analytics), with suppliers or trades directly involved in your job where that’s needed, or where we are required or permitted to do so by law.
Some of these providers (including Netlify, Resend, Google and Meta) store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States. We use them because they are established services, but we can’t control where they hold data.
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the website — for example which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are (to city level), what device they use, how they found us, and when someone taps our phone number or sends an enquiry. To do this, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies in your browser (named _ga and _ga_…) as soon as a page loads. This site doesn’t show a cookie banner. Google Signals and Google’s advertising features are turned off, Analytics data is kept for 14 months, and the contents of our forms are never sent to Google. We use the reports to improve the site, not to identify individual visitors. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, and the site will still work.
Some pages show content loaded from other services: our Facebook page feed on the home page (from Meta), a Google Map on the contact page, and a service-area map on the home page drawn with OpenStreetMap map tiles (its map library is delivered by Cloudflare’s cdnjs service). Our fonts are hosted on this website itself, so no font request goes to Google. When these other services load, your browser connects to those services, which may record your IP address and, in Facebook’s and Google’s case, set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.
When you type your email address or phone number into an enquiry or quote form on this website, we save what you have entered so far (your name, contact details and the details of your enquiry), even if you do not press send. We do this only so that May Paving can get in touch once to help if your enquiry was interrupted. We never save passwords or payment details. If you clear the form, or tap “Clear” under it, what you typed is deleted. If you do send the form, the unsent copy is deleted straight away. Otherwise, saved details are deleted automatically after 90 days. They are stored securely in Australia by our website provider, JB Digital Barossa, in its client portal database hosted by Supabase in Sydney. They are not sold, shared or used for marketing lists. A short notice under each form explains this, and any follow-up is a personal contact from May Paving, never an automatic message. To see or delete anything we hold about you, or to ask us not to contact you, email admin@maypaving.com.au and we will action it promptly.
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, and we keep it only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes above or to meet our legal obligations. As a guide: unsent form details are deleted after 90 days (see above), Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months, and enquiry and job records are kept for as long as we need them for your job, our business records and our legal obligations.
You may request access to, correction of, or (where we don’t need to keep it for your job or by law) deletion of the personal information we hold about you at any time — just contact us using the details below. If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to sort it out. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
